With “Cheetah”, Pascal Chesneau presents a sculpture as sleek and dynamic as the animal it embodies. Crafted from recycled metal, the piece captures the essence of movement not through mass, but through suspension and tension. The cheetah is not running yet — but its entire body is poised, brimming with restrained power. It is motion contained, a living potential sculpted in steel.
Faithful to his artistic language, Chesneau once again sculpts with light and air, using absence as much as presence. The cheetah’s limbs are fragmented and pierced, as if eroded by wind or carved by time. The voids let space flow through the body, transforming the animal into a fleeting apparition. It is less an object than a phenomenon in progress — both material and ethereal.
The metal, warmly patinated in earthy, savannah-like tones, is subtly textured with small perforations, evoking a sun-scorched coat weathered by speed and terrain. Its delicate legs, stretched tail, and forward-leaning head express a feline elegance and fluid strength. Every line, every curve, contributes to an almost audible silence — the calm before the explosive sprint.
The dark, minimalist base anchors the sculpture while allowing the animal to rise from it, nearly floating in space. Chesneau masterfully balances tension and levity, shaping an artwork that seems to hover between being and vanishing.
“Cheetah” is a statement piece for collectors of contemporary wildlife art, as well as design lovers drawn to minimalist yet expressive forms. With dimensions of 44 x 84 x 15 cm, it is well suited for modern interiors, curated collections, or gallery display — bringing with it a sense of movement, heat, and silent force.
In this work, Pascal Chesneau doesn't merely depict a cheetah; he invokes the very idea of speed and anticipation. The piece captures a split-second — a breath before action — with an intensity only sculpture can achieve.
