Born in 1964 in Montélimar, Pascal Marcel is a self-taught artist. He began his first exhibitions in 1980. It was in 1993 that he decided to dedicate himself entirely to painting and moved towards abstract work. He definitively embraced figurative art during his 5-year stay in Mexico, where he participated in numerous exhibitions. He returned with a plethora of vivid and warm colors. Emotion lies at the heart of Pascal Marcel's work. His canvases do not lie, but act as a mirror where we are free to add our own story and experiences. Initially, the artist faithfully depicted scenes of real life with touching honesty, portraying humanity with admirable tenderness. His works reveal the faces of the night, the wounded of life, the lost souls of early mornings, but also the joy of childhood and the simple pleasures of everyday life. Then came the Covid period, during which the artist retreated into his studio, and a new message emerged in his work: birds in the sky, more abstract and distant characters began to appear. It is with this mastery of the abstract that Pascal takes us on a journey into a new vision of the world. The palette shifts, nuances, but tenderness and emotion remain ever-present. In Pascal's work, each painting is a composition of abstract paintings that merge together to form a unified whole.
