Pascal Chesneau, born in 1967 in Brittany, chose a completely different professional path than the one he is known for today by training as a boiler maker and pipe fitter. After a few contracts in the early 2000s, he decided to complete his knowledge of materials and trained as a cabinetmaker. Pascal then imagined himself as a wood sculptor but the town of Lisieux commissioned him to create a work in metal to be placed on a roundabout, the metal caught up with him!
In 2014, he won the Wildlife Artist of the Year award from the prestigious Shepherd Foundation in London, which was the real trigger for his career. Pascal Chesneau is very involved in the protection of endangered species and has been working with the Foundation since that time. In addition to the desire to give transparency and lightness to the metal, one can also see in it the symbol of these endangered animals.
The artist hunts down car parts, bonnets and roofs to give them new life by chiselling them like lace. Wild animals are born between his expert fingers, a few lines, just the necessary and the eye will do the rest.

The gallery's Words

I have known Pascal Chesneau's work for several years, I like his agility, his magician's hands which, from a hard and opaque material, manage to sketch a light and fragile silhouette, to enhance the power and fragility of animal species. It is with great pleasure that he joins the artists of the gallery.
