Monique Dégluaire is a ceramist sculptor whose reputation and experience are attested by longevity and success. Her workshop is located in Saone et Loire in the town of Chapaize, in the village of Bessuge, since 1989. Sha had previously settled above Cluny in the town of Lournand, in the pretty valley of Chaume. Her exhibition in the small barn, overlooked an ideal landscape for a painter of the Renaissance. Standing on the window side, a majestic swan took off in a perfect counter-light.
Before that time, she lived, one can say was recluse, ten years in a village of high Clunisois, Saint Léger under the Bussière. Lost in these wooded mountains, far from modern confort, but in total independence, she has modeled herself as a ceramic author.
Her pieces are figurative, narrative. Her style is obvious, a "Dégluaire" is easily recognized, without the need for a signature. She describes her work as statuary rather than sculptor. For her, the volume passes through the shape of the human body, the female body above all and the animal body. Quite often these bodies mix, men have chicken legs and hens breasts, according to the need to transcribe the truth of her dreams. Over the years, Monique’s animals statuary are a reference among her contemporaries. It would be wrong, however, to keep it in the animal domain. The women, the heroines of her very particular mythology, the couples, the warriors and the clowns, the children, always difficult to grasp; all her characters, large or small, become alive through her hands. Her sculpture have a face, they have a sight, and they delight every collector.

The gallery's words

I discovered the bulls of Monique Dégluaire by an agent of artist. The power of the animal, just postures, give this artist a real place in animal sculpture. We quickly decided to follow her work on bulls.
