Coming from a family background where medical studies were in order, Annick Bouvattier obtained her Scientific High School Degree and turned away from her predestined pathway to be part of a more artistic approach: fashion design. Her creations, presented in Paris and Villa Medici (Rome), were highly noticed by professionals and were published numerous times in the specialized press. Annick defines her expectations and decides to work as a costume designer in the studios of Cinecittà in Rome. From her Italian stay, she kept the warm, sensual, deep colors: sunny ochres, dull reds, intense blues, deep greens.

At the beginning of 1990, she devoted herself exclusively to painting. She discovered this sensibility at a very young age with her father, who was himself an art lover. After two years of self-taught research, she became from 1992 to 1996 the pupil of Pierre Ramel, disciple and massier of Mac'Avoy, who taught him the technique of oil knife that she now works smoothed, without thickness of material, all in transparency.

Annick Bouvattier is sensitive to femininity, she talks about women in their daily lives without any false modesty. Scenes of everyday life, close-ups, depict a liberated woman indifferent to what other thinks.

Annick Bouvattier exhibits in Paris, Cannes, Brussels and New York.

The words of the gallery

My first encounter with the artist was when I first saw one of her painting, a close-up of the mid-legs of a seated woman. Very touched by the subtlety of this femininity, and this feeling of assumed femininity, the work has captured all my attention. I then wanted to discover her artworks much more widely and behind her women's daily represented life, I also appreciated an incredible technique. Annick paints with a knife with strong precision and subtlety in the handling of the tool that can only attract the eye. It is always with great pleasure that we present the work of this international artist.
